about the creator

Alahnna Balmeo Alvarado is a queer second-generation Filipino-American working as a business operations manager by day and the creator of aswangs & alliteration by night.

Born and raised on Kumeyaay land in Southern California, she now resides in the ancestral land of the Lenape, known as the NYC Metro Area, with her husband and their very beloved geriatric cat.

She often writes about her innumerable romances with wonder, defiance and hope, and her works have been selected for both in-print and online publication by The Sandy River Review, Evocations Review and Spectrum Literary Journal among others. Alahnna began writing poetry in elementary school and was once mentioned in the San Diego CityBeat as a "local author on the verge," a concept she has been flirting with for many years.

When she is not reading too many books at once or working on her first manuscript, Alahnna spends her time over-napping, fantasizing about decolonization and researching her indigenous Igorot ancestry.
